Expert food hygiene advice for food producers during the Coronavirus lockdown
Our April 2020 Press Release:
Local expert Supports Food Businesses to Keep Serving, Even During the Coronavirus Crisis
Simply Safer, experts in Food Hygiene & Safety, have been offering Hampshire & Dorset food businesses free advice and documents, for those that wish to remain open during the lockdown.
As council resources are stretched, Simply Safer have been helping any food business that requires Food Safety advice or guidance at a time when it is most critical – specifically around adapting to food preparation and delivery.
Ruth Baker of Simply Safer said ‘Ordinarily, we offer food hygiene & safety support advice and training to businesses such as restaurants, cafes, pubs and butchers to increase and maintain their food hygiene ratings and operate under best practice. But whilst the hospitality businesses we support are closed during this lockdown, we are lucky to work with those food producers that want to keep their businesses moving forward.’
Simply Safer have helped local business, Piglets Pantry, to convert their business to providing a home delivery service at a time when people can’t always get to the sports events. Normally they would make pies and sausage rolls for sports stadiums, including Southampton and Portsmouth Football Club.
With Ruth’s support, Smith Butchers of Eastleigh and The Oven Door Bakery of Fair Oak and Bishopstoke, have teamed up with a local vegetable supplier, and have also started home deliveries, and in addition advice has been given to the New Forest National Park Authority for their food distribution project, to ensure their employees are safe.
Ruth adds, “We are trying to do everything we can to support our clients through this hard time. It’s also a pleasure to help out Tom Parker Creamery. With our capabilities, we are now providing safe transit of the milk from the farm to the dairy for processing, and onwards to distributors, who will then take it to the doorsteps of customers.”
She continued “At times like this you appreciate how important the food industry is to the country and how all workers within the industry are vital to the supply chain’.
Supporting local food businesses is so important right now and Simply Safer is happy to provide food hygiene & safety support to any food businesses that may have any food safety enquires.
